Common molding issues: sink marks and weld lines
What causes them and how process and tooling changes can help.
Sink marks often relate to uneven wall thickness, insufficient packing, or uneven cooling. Flow analysis before cutting steel can highlight risk areas.
Weld lines form where two flow fronts meet. Gate placement, higher mold temperature, or improved flow can reduce their visibility or strength impact.
Material changes (e.g., higher-flow grades) are another lever but must be weighed against cost and property requirements. We support material and process trials together.
